In one reality, The Mighty is a work in progress by Patrick Murray, but in another (perhaps more important) dimension, it is a ship, and a patchwork crew of individuals charged with a solemn duty : ...to travel between worlds, collect stories, and keep them safe.
It sounds like an exciting job, but deep in the bowels of the massive ship we find a humble corner filled with plain-looking, dusty suitcases. This is The Mighty Archives, a place you'd only find yourself in if you had a particular interest in story cataloging, storage, or preservation procedures. Oh, or if you happen to be a Leak...
Available here, at themightyarchives.com! Episodes 1-9 are currently presented for your pleasure, with the rest of the series hopefully coming this summer/fall. So far this project is a single-man adventure in web, video, writing, and sleep deprivation, so everything is "in process" until it ain't no more. So begins my imprisonment...
Uhg! This place is huge! Stinkin’ carrot-faced nincompoops. Think they can hold The Spirit of Revolution? HA! Many have tried, but all have failed (read a small example). Ho ho - this Ohmi character is in for a surprise, that’s for sure. Just need to find his office... Who designed this place anyways? It’s built like a maze! suitcases everywhere.... Ah HA! Found it...
I used to have feet!
Ohmi the octopus is off collecting stories, or so they say. I say he’s off capturing more innocent Spirits, transforming them into carrots, and forcing them to walk (or HOP) for miles on fool’s errands. My wrath is building! Need to focus on getting out of here, or at least finding a new place to sleep! The Leak room is a cesspool of annoyance (see what I mean).
A Weakness is Found!
The resident nincompoops seem to believe that Sir Daniel was the victim of a royal coup by a handful of monsters. I am intrigued. But they also say his kookiness was the result of tickles. Ridiculous, and in the end, such nonsense will be their downfall. I will write a story that exposes them for what they really are: Booger Noses! No title yet, but here’s Chapter 2.
Week 5 of my Imprisonment...
Daniel’s story is, well, uhhm, how shall I put this? It’s about lions. I don’t know if it’s the story of his world, or from his world, or if he just made it up. The man’s a kook! Hmm... but why is he a kook? I suppose I’ll keep listening, and hopefully we’ll get to the issue of his madness in time. Taking a break from my own story for a week - got some big ideas that need to marinate. Stay tuned!
Still no Ohmi...
Went back to the office to look for Ohmi, and found Daniel sleeping on the ground under a pile of paper. Poor guy. In his story a nasty Lioness called the main character, Simon, a ‘freak’. I think Daniel is using Simon as a symbol to represent himself. *Sigh* So obvious when storytellers do that. My own story is back, and it rocks - Check it!
Week 7...
Daniel’s story is pretty good I suppose. Considering I have nothing else to do I’m going to listen to another chapter. The character Simon met a girl. Her name is Aria. She sounds pretty cool so far I guess. Oh! - And I finally decided on a tentative title for my book : “Queen Miracluous is the Best”. READ
What's the big Deal?!?
So this Lioness, let’s call her Aria de Fartia, gets all freaked just cause Simon can’t explain the scars on his face? A wise man once said, “Doubt is the seed of imagination”. I think it’s cool that he doesn’t know where his scars came from. Pfft! My own story is also tragic, but a bit more serious...MayItPleaseYa
Disappointment...
And I quote: "Let me get this straight, Daniel. Simon gets dumped, and stranded in the middle of nowhere, and you're taking a BREAK? AHHH!"
Well, Daniel just apologized, and promised to finish telling me his story ASAP. Like I'm going to believe the rantings of madman. Anyways, art mimics life, so here's the last chapter of my novella for a while:
Peas out river trout.
